Like most kids , I had an obsession with Greek mythology. I would stay up late reading Percy Jackson and play the Mythology Island on Poptropica over and over again. Aphra is a project I started during college, that I like to revisit every so often to see how my skills have changed. Aphra, short for Aphrodite is a way to pay homage to my inner child that loved anything and everything Greek mythology.
In its most recent iteration, it has become a fragrance line. Each scent is inspired by one of Aphrodite's mythological lovers, and the notes in the fragrance tie into their myth.

With this project, I wanted every choice to be intentional and something that could be tied back to something found in Greek mythology. The logo has a pearl hidden in the counterform of the 'a', a nod to the tears of joy shed by the goddess. The colors are taken from the color of sea foam and the ocean, Aphrodite's place of birth. I wanted the visuals to mimic the Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli, an iconic representation of the goddess.
The bottle of the perfume is inspired by Doric columns, a feature of Classical Greek architecture. The fluted grooves add a touch of elegance with the enhanced depth and light diffusion.
